Automating Tasks in MarcEdit

by the University Library of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

In addition to offering options for editing records, MarcEdit allows users to save particular operations in a task or a script so that they can be performed on multiple records without manually performing each edit. While many functions are available within this framework, some will have to be done manually. The task manager tends to be more user friendly and include a wider array of functions, though the script wizard may allow for more control and customization of tasks, providing the user is able to code in VBScript or PERL.

Procedures included in this section are:

  • Task Management
  • Scripting in MarcEdit

This workflow is one of many MarcEdit processes that are outlined in a LibGuide produced by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The processes are linked individually in the Library Workflow Exchange to facilitate discovery of specific step-by-step workflows.
