These procedures outline the steps for linking digital collections to archival collections marked up in EAD, focusing on items scanned at the item level. This process focuses on “low-tech” ways to convert metadata from CONTENTdm into container lists for EAD finding aids, but can be adapted for workflows from other content management systems. It attempts to eliminate the need for XSLT and minimizes the use of XML hand coding in the process. Excel fluency is preferred for this workflow, as some steps are completed faster using formulas. This procedure works best when one digital collection is correlated with one physical collection, but can be adapted for other scenarios. Ranges of items grouped together under one description will need additional editing.
