These procedures outline the steps needed to batch upload items into CONTENTdm when there is an established online finding aid. This process focuses on “low-tech” ways to use the content or container list displayed in table format in finding aids and convert it to a spreadsheet for batch uploading metadata to CONTENTdm. It attempts to eliminate the need for XSLT and XML in the process, although an understanding of the two is always beneficial. Excel fluency is preferred for this workflow, as some steps are completed faster using formulas. This procedure works best when the entire collection is being uploaded into one digital collection on CONTENTdm AND the digital objects are being uploaded as individual objects. Ranges of items grouped together under one description will need additional editing.
